WATERLOO NISSAN

About Us

Thanks to the 20+ years of loyalty from my customers and staff, I will build a new state-of-the-art facility for them.

Waterloo Nissan has a strong commitment to its customers and the community

It’s a dealership with something that no one else in the area can boast.  Year after year for seven years, Waterloo Nissan has been named the number one New Car Dealer in Central Ontario by the Canadian Automobile Association.

“For my staff to reach the top is one thing,” says Ian Murdoch, president of Waterloo Nissan. “To retain this elite status for seven consecutive years is something else again.”

He credits the success to the dedication, professionalism and good old-fashioned hard work of staff and the
ongoing support and loyalty of clients.

For the past 20 years, the team at Waterloo Nissan has been striving to exceed the expectations of everyone who walks through the door. It shows from the way clients are treated, to the actions that go on behind the scenes.

For example most dealerships spend an average of $350 to $500 to recondition a pre-owned vehicle before putting it on the lot for sale. Waterloo Nissan spends in excess of $1,000 per car.

“I do not want the vehicle to be in any less shape than what I would sell to my children,” Murdoch explains.

That commitment to quality is also evident in the service department where highly skilled factory technicians hold up the dealership’s high standards. Using state-of-the-art equipment, and staying on top of ever-changing technology are just part of a days work to them.

“Our Nissan owners are absolute about bringing their Nissan here and only here,” Murdoch says.  “In fact, Nissan Canada uses our dealership to test and refine many of their new and innovative ways of caring for customers.”

From sales to service to parts, no matter where you turn, the team at Waterloo Nissan, prides itself on customer service.  But Murdoch’s passion for making people happy extends far beyond the dealership property.  Murdoch and his wife Mary are both long-time residents of Kitchener-Waterloo.

“If your business is in KW, you had better be living here,” he says. “I don’t know of a more caring or progressive community in Canada. If you truly care about helping others then this is the place for you.”

Giving back is a very important part of the business and over the years, Waterloo Nissan and its staff have actively been involved with many local charities including Big Brothers, Big Sisters, KidsAbility, Kidslink, The Food Bank, The Cancer Society, Junior Achievement, Children’s Wing – Grand River Hospital, Cancer Wing – Grand River Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, The Working Centre and St. John’s Kitchen to name a few.

Murdoch has sat on several boards including The Alzheimer Society of KW, The Rotary Frederick St. Project and The Kitchener-Conestogo Rotary Board. He is currently involved with The Grand River Conservation Foundation Board. He is twice past president of K-W Car and Truck Dealers Association and he chaired the World Community Service Committee at the Kitchener-Conestogo Rotary Club whose group has projects in Peru, Zimbabwe, Bolivia, Cuba, Kenya, Honduras and India to name a few. He also was awarded the prestigious Conestoga Wagon Award by his Rotary club.

One of Murdoch’s favourite projects was in western Kenya situated in a village called Matangwe. The Kitchener-Conestogo Rotary Club and other local Rotaries have partnered with a local group called Caring Partners. Through that partnership they have been able to build a water well, a clinic, supply diesel-generated electricity and supply an ambulance for Matangwe, plus much more.

His latest project is working with the GRCA and his Rotary club to plant 56,000 trees at Snyder’s Flats, called the Kitchener-Conestoga Rotary Forest.

Located at Bridgeport and Weber in Waterloo, the dealership has come a long way in the past two decades, and
Murdoch says he’s proud of every step they’ve taken. He intends to build a state-of-the-art new facility in North Waterloo to reward the 20 plus years loyalty of his customers and staff.
